It was roughly an hour ago six years ago that I received a phone call that changed my life. It was my father, who was very shaken and upset. He informed me that my mother had passed away calmly in her sleep. I needed to go home at once and be with my family as well and sign the cremation papers as I was the next of kin.

After over half a decade of her being gone, my life has tremendously changed. I have been engaged and then not, I have played professional baseball, I have graduated from college, and I have moved almost a half a dozen times. As much as my life is now different, I still think of her daily. I wish she could have been physically here to enjoy the things that I have achieved.

My personal beliefs are that she is still around in some form. Who knows, whether or not that is just for my own comfort. She loved nature and the outdoors too much not to stay around somewhere that she loved being. I see my sister turning into her with every year. She even looks a lot like my mom did at her age. For that I am actually thankful, because at times it is hard to remember my mom’s face. They say this is common with death by someone close to you.

I’m extremely happy though for the life that she did leave. She had a lot of fun and actually went out exactly where she said that she wanted to be. If only all of us could be so lucky. Wherever she is and whatever she is doing, I am sure that she is making people laugh and bringing joy to their lives.

Make sure you tell your parents how much you love and appreciate them as much as possible. You truly never know when you will talk to them for the last time.

Time Off

I love having time off from work. Last night was a pretty long night and it is so great knowing that I don’t have to go back to work until a week from tomorrow. Thanksgiving is coming up soon and I’m really excited about it. It will be great to have almost a dozen people at my house all celebrating life and each other.

It’s a rainy day in Orlando and I have some errands to run. I’m also going to finish a new track that I was playing around with. I love music

Home Again

After over 3,500 miles and 13 days, Angie and I are finally home from our
road trip. In all we covered ground in Florida, Georgia, South/North
Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa,
Kentucky, and Tennessee.

We picked the perfect time of year to go into the Appalachian Mountains.
The leaves were absolutely at their peak and it was one of the most
beautiful trips to Western North Carolina that I've ever experienced. I
got the chance to meet most of her family and they are all awesome people.
We took over 500 pictures that I'm in the process of uploading now. Please
check the pictures section under "trips" for those pics.

The weather could not have been more cooperative. We had little to no
rain, and highs in the 50s and 60s with lows in the upper 30s and 40s. It
was perfect. I really needed a break and can't describe in words how
peaceful and powerful it is to be around nature.

Being back at work sucks but I am happy because I only have 4 days this
week and then I'm off for another 10. I took the whole week of
Thanksgiving off and my family is coming to Orlando. Angie's parents are
coming down from Jacksonville so it will be a nice sized dinner. I'm
really excited about having some more time off.

We are still busy as ever with things coming up. We're also looking into
options for New Years. Always on the go...

Ready to Ride

The day has come for our vacation. We leave around 5 pm today and I
couldn't be more excited. I can't wait to smell the fresh air of the
mountains and feel the cool, dense fog of the smokeys on my face.

There is something very powerful about road trips and traveling for me.
Angie and I have been talking about this trip for a long time and it is
finally coming to life today. We'll be stopping at her parent's house in
Jacksonville for the night and then heading out tomorrow around 7 am.

We are going to drive over 2000 miles in 13 days. We are timing it perfect
as well, hitting the carolinas right during peak season. We'll have
hundreds of new pictures on the site when we get back.
