Newboze

I’m a newbie at this office. Today is my first day and after some issues with security I made it in. I now work on the East Side of Orlando and so far so good. Our crushed ice machine made it over so life could be worse. It will be tough for Angie come and see me at lunch because there are no visitors allowed on the campus. I definitely will miss being in a public building for that purpose alone.

It is only two days until our vacation. I am more excited than an Amish man on his wedding night. We’ll be in the mountains and in the farmlands. It should be one of the most exciting trips I have ever taken. I promise to put tons of pics on my site, which by the way is http://www.djlucas.us (shameless plug)

Movin

Today is my last day in this office. We have been relocated to another company owned building on the east side of town. It should be a much nicer facility to work in. I’m excited about something new and will also look to move closer to work when my lease runs up in February.

I’ve learned a lot in this building about many aspects of corporate life. It’s weird to me how fast you can get comfortable with something, only to have things change almost immediately. I think in many ways that is one thing that I really enjoy about life; the changes.

Cool

The first major temperature change of the year hit us yesterday morning. All I can say is “Welcome!”

I have always enjoyed the first brisk air of the year and the invigorating feeling that it brings. There is something really magical about the fall. The only thing I wish is that we had more sunlight. It is now getting dark around 7:30 pm here. We leave in exactly a week for our vacation. It is really hard for me to describe here how excited I am. We are going to cover a lot of ground in a short amount of time. I know that the Camry will treat us wonderfully and I’m excited to see what kind of gas mileage it gets with the air off in the cool northern air we’ll be in.

I’m just about finished packing my work stuff up. Tomorrow is my last day in this office. It’s been an amazing learning experience thusfar and I’m sure I’ll learn even more when we move to the campus on the other side of town. It is really weird not having Bob around. I like working by myself a lot but it’s amazing how you get used to another person being around and then all of the sudden they are gone.

I’m going outside right now to enjoy this beautiful weather.

Wilma

I am typing this as Hurricane Wilma slams into the Southern part of Florida. We have set a record this year as we have used all of the names in the hurricane alphabet and had to resort to the Greek alphabet. It has been a truly amazing year. I am looking out my window at this moment over the lake in my backyard that has whitecaps on it. Florida has seen 5 land falling hurricanes this year. None of them as bad as Katrina who hit the Gulf Coast, but still they have been significantly costly.

Weather is really awesome.

One Phone Call

It is amazing how much your life can change with just one phone call.
Nothing has happened to me directly, but all around me there are major
things happening to my friends and family. It is almost surreal how much
drama can be created from just the ring of one phone.

It reminds me of the fact that we can only enjoy the time we have on this
planet, as many events around us are un-controllable and cannot be altered
by us in any way. Life is ever evolving and the best thing I feel we can
do is just to enjoy each moment and try to be as happy as possible.

We occupy too short of an existence to let pity stuff get in our way. The
real goal of each of us should be to better oursevles. To find a nitch and
harness that nitch into something great. To add joy and value to
everything you do. I know I'm sounding like some renaissance poet right
now but there is way too much sadness and negativity in our world. We've
been groomed not to look for the positive.

Live each day not as if it were your last, but if it were your best is a
quote I just made up that makes a lot of sense right now.

Dehydrated

After a long time of not getting hungover, it happened again. I have now abolished the phrase "I found the drink that doesn't get me hungover" because this weekend I ran into the wall again.

Actually it was a great weekend though. I got to visit with my family, went to a Casino and won some money, and went out twice. I definitely showcased myself as the normal obnoxious, loud, antagonistic person that I can be when a certain degree of whiskey is flowing through me. I still managed to come out of it alive with no arrests or stolen property so at least that's good.

I have a short week at work and then we are going to Penscola and Daytona Beach this weekend. It's going to be a lot of fun, but a lot of driving as well. I love going out of town though. Pretty soon we'll be leaving for our vacation and I'll be as excited as a small child on christmas eve.

Tober Yober

October is already here. I think 2005 has gone faster than a lot of the years that I can remember. That is probably most likely because all the change I have experienced. Things are going pretty good. I’m struggling with the weight thing but still driving towards my goal. I am going to start the conversion of the vinyl to digital within the next few weeks although it is going to take a long time for sure.

In less than a month we will be on vacation and it cannot come soon enough. I am so looking forward to the cool crisp air of the mountains, the breeze cutting through the leaves, and the sound of rushing water through the valleys. It will be great to see my family in Ohio as well. I haven’t seen them for 2 years and it will be a time of laughter and sarcasm for all to enjoy.
